Maxxis DoubleDown Casing
DoubleDown (DD) is the next step in the evolution of the dual-ply tyre casing for enduro racing. Two 120 TPI casing layers reinforced with a butyl insert provide the enduro racer with the support and protection of a downhill tyre, but in a lighter package.
- Retains strength and support while retaining the ability to deform over rocks, roots and other technical terrain
- Saves on average 15% weight compared to a DH tyre of the same tread pattern
- Adds bead strength to provide extra stiffness and reduce the chances of burping
Maxxis Tyre Rubber CompoundsThe rubber compound used in a bicycle tyre is incredibly important. By changing the compound, engineers can make two identical-looking tyres perform completely differently. Maxxis cycle tyres feature the following tread combinations:
Single compound – one compound throughout the tread optimised for longevity and performance
Dual compound – two compounds within the tread of select tyres to offer lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip
Triple compound – three compounds arranged throughout the tyre for the ultimate in no-compromise racing performance
A special low-rebound, high-traction compound used in selected downhill tyres
